THE IBERO-AMERICAN CONGRESSES OF PSYCHODRAMA

There was a need of a genuine space for the psychodramatic developments in the variety of streams of the Hispanic-Lusitanian-American societies, showing their peculiar problems, economical, political and social crisis, producing and at a time re-creating multiple psycho- and sociodramatic, community and group scenes, in numerous representations of spontaneity theatre, in infinite masks of pain and joy, sadness and hope of our people.

The integration of different streams and contemporaneous contributions in the clinical, labour, educational and community fields has become strongly overt during the last years after our first congress in Salamanca, Spain, in 1997.

In the previous editions*, concern about Ethics and professional, scientific and technical excellence of the psychodramatic practice in its diversity and its integration with Arts, indissoluble element and necessary condition of the psychodramatic being, was outlined as a shared interest. The proposal of the last edition (México 2005) was, in fact, to be equal to this wisdom in our developments and set the basis for the legitimation of the various branches of our leafy tree, concerning as much the differentiated practice in all fields as the training of professionals authentically devoted to become psychodramatists, and invoking an encounter to converse into action, to reflect together about the multiple aspects joining and differentiating us.

The proposal for the Sixth Edition of this Congress in La Coruña-Spain 2007 is to consolidate the previous statements, to diffuse knowledge and reinforce the deserved status of Psychodrama in the panorama of the learning methods, social interventions and clinical treatments, regarding the individual and group integration, and emphasizing the enrichment supplied by the cultural and approaches’ diversity... Moreover, in a very emotionally meaningful historical time due to the repercussions, stirring up a wide range of feelings and opinions, of the global-world and migratory tendencies and the new family models on the mental and social health of the world citizens, presenting specific needs of community integration and adaptation to the rapid changes of our nations... An opportunity for the psychotherapies, alone or combined with medication, to show the usuaries their benefits and reach guarantee before the international scientific community.

From La Coruña, “the town where no one is a foreigner”, we convoke all the colleagues with Latin-American bonds who wish to share their developments in any of the multiple areas where psychodrama and adjunctive methods may offer their particular benefits. We want to open doors and windows to the participation of professionals and students of any discipline with proposals applicable to the clinical, educational, labour... fields of the complex social and cultural dynamics of our days.
