Good day

I would like to remind everybody who's interested in sending proposals
for the Rome Congress (August 24-29, 2009) that the choise is made
by the Scientific Programm Committee (Esther Stone and Maurizio
Gasseau).

You must submit your abstract from the webpage www.iagpcongress.org entering "call for proposals" from the leftside menu.

I would like so much if someone who is an expert in the field
could organize a workshop or a symosium about "conflicts in sports".
I think it could be very interesting to discuss on the possible
interventions, for instance, with football teams (conflicts in small groups: they cannot win if the group doesn't work well together) and with the large groups of supporters.

I am sure that in biggest world community of psychodrama there are
many colleagues who could teach us a lot on these topics

Asunto: [IAGP:PSYCHODRAMA] IAGP (International Association of Group Psychotherapy andGroup Processes) conference in Rome, last call

Dear colleagues,

please send a proposal through the homepage and within the postponed
deadline of November 15th:

s. also the attachment.

One thing is new:

THEMATIC TRACTS
The International Rome Congress 2009 will include a new approach to the
organization of the presentations named "Thematic Tracts". The Thematic
Tract is the grouping of related scientific activities designed to study
and experience a subject in depth.
Eight diverse tracts have been conceptualized (co-chaired by H. Fleury
and R. Friedman). Every submitted proposal may be included in a tract,
or be independent of it or else initialize a new tract. Thus not all
scientific activities will be part of a tract. The inclusion in a tract
is choice. The scientific activities that will address the topic or
theme may consist of symposiums, courses, workshops, posters, videos
(see Congress Scientific Activities below). It is the organizing group's
task to promote theoretical, geographical and cultural quality and
diversity of the tract. Activities especially designed for students will
be identified in each tract.
All proposals will be submitted by the guidelines defined by the
Scientific Program Committee (SPC), including the 15th of November
deadline. SPC first has to accept the proposals.

Description of Congress Scientific Activities

Symposiums: Panels organized around a theme: chair plus 2 or 3
panelists and a discussant (formal paper presentations followed by a
discussion of the papers or less formal presentation such as
demonstration groups, overheads). Sessions are 1 ½ hours in length.
The symposium format can be:
1- a single session symposium where the chair organizes a panel
presentation with 2 or 3 panelists and a discussant around a single
theme for a 1 ½ hour session.
2- Ongoing symposium where a major theme in the field is explored in
depth over 3-4 days. These sessions are organized and led by 1 or 2
chairs, with different panelists and discussants each 1 ½ hour session:
3- paper presentation: 3 single lectures (20 minutes) that are related
around a single theme. The Scientific Program Committee will select a
chair and discussant for this 1 ½ hour session.

Courses: teaching the essentials of a major topic over 3-4 days. There
is a curriculum with 3-6 faculty members. Content is usually didactic,
but can also include demonstrations and experiential components. Each
day session is 1 ½ hours in duration.

Video sessions: original and commercially produced videos that have
clinical relevance. Videos of clinical relevance must conform to Italian
laws. The videos must be less than 20 minutes long and must be produced
with computer technology. Sessions should include a chair and 2-3
discussants. Sessions are 1 ½ hours.

Workshops: organized around a specific topic or theme. The focus of the
workshop is interactive: where information is exchanged between the
participants and the leader(s).Workshops may have 1-3 leaders. Sessions
are either1 ½ hours or 3 hours.

Poster Sessions: a visual presentation of a topic mounted on poster
board surfaces that are 4 feet high and 6 feet (100 x 70 cm.) wide. The
poster should be self explanatory. Presenters will provide handouts and
be available to discuss their work. Posters will be displayed during the
lunch hour.

Sincerely yours

Becas Profesor E.J. Anthony

Asunto: Roma 2009

Dear colleagues,
Over the years people have sent me books in other languages, and after looking through them, I'd like to pass them along so that they give maximum benefit to those who can read them with more understanding.
I'd like to mail a box or two to give to deserving students or trainers who come to the conference in Rome. I can't afford to be there, but I'd like to support this wonderful effort.
Are there any people in Europe who are driving there and can carry a box of books? Or better yet, someone who lives in Rome or nearby who is driving there?
Then I could send the books. Please help me make this connection. Sincerely,

Adam Blatner, M.D.

Psychodrama Section Meeting: Reccomendations for the future

Asunto: [IAGP:PSYCHODRAMA] Psychodrama Section Meeting in Rome with Reccomendations for the Future

After being elected as Psychodrama Section Chair in August 2003 I tried to organize immediately a section working committee in the Istambul Congress.

In this group of volunteers, we defined 4 goals/subgroups: scientific research, promotion of psychodrama, networking and international publishing. There was a goal and a leader for each subgroup. During the first 3 years (with the exception of the scientific research committee led by Michael Wieser, which started to be a collaborative work also with FEPTO, the very active and effective European Umbrella for Psychodrama Training Organizations) 3 of the subgroups did not produce much outcome and I came to the conclusion that I have been working in a too isolated manner.

It was not easy to keep this international working committee alive and working, especially when there was only opportunity of face-to-face meetings in international conferences. Still we did help with the scientific research, the publishing of international books, organizing international conferences and develop our networking through this list and other media.

I am very positive about the fact that our colleague from Italy, Maurizio Gasseau, the next Chair of Psychodrama Section, has already created an international and promising working team and is also encouraging my active contribution in this team.

I do recommend for the future that we try to be a more effective team, and I believe so, since the members who were nominated are proactive members of IAGP and of the International Psychodrama Community. I am also happy with the election of Sue Daniel, the previous Section Chair as a new Board member as this again favours a potential good teamwork. To reassure this cohesion and effective team we can also do some sessions using our own method, namely sociodrama sessions

Speaking about the impact of IAGP psychodrama section in the world it is worthwhile to remind us that our theoretical orientation has not an international worldwide umbrella organization other then IAGP. Most psychodramatists are loyal to IAGP since J.L. Moreno was one of its creators and they tend to value an inclusive and integrative project to help the world. "Sociatry" is one of the ultimate vision of psychodrama methods and therefore of all psychodramatists.

The challenge for the future is how Not to be a threating competitor to other theoretical schools in IAGP and also how to keep our members engaged and get new ones and also to face the possibility that other international and smaller movements in the psychodrama world will bring up some competition, which can be seen as a threat or as an opportunity , depending on how much we are able to improve our own effectiveness.

However, I do agree with Christer Sandall idea, which has also been my own since Barcelona, with a next innovation in IAGP, namely to have application domains (clinical, organizational, educational, etc) instead of theoretical sections. It seams obvious to me that this structure would serve better the cross-fertilization and general purpose of IAGP, also to be able to effectively compete with theoretical umbrella international organizations.

It has been a very rich, honouring and learning experience to serve IAGP.

We should be appreciativeof all the Board volunteer work and I wish the next Board excellent and even better achievements!

Again we invite you to actively participate in the Psychodrama Section Meeting at the Rome Congress, August 28 , from 1.00 pm to 2.30 pm in Ergiff Hotel, Hall tarragona.

The Agenda for this Meeting in Hall Tarragona:

- Presentation of the New IAGP Psychodrama Section Chair

- Presentation of the countries present

- Suggestions for further activities in the Section

It is important your presence in this meeting to keep the Psychodrama International Community alive and cohesive!

Please be there!

Hope to meet you All in Rome, with 1500 participants!

Respectfully submitted,

Psychodrama Section Meeting Minute

Subject: [IAGP:PSYCHODRAMA] Psychodrama Section Meeting Minute

Dear All

This is my last email as Psychodrama Section Chair since Maurizio Gasseau has now been elected as the new Chair of IAGP Psychodrama Section.

We had a PD Section meeting in IAGP Congress in Rome, during lunch time in a short time, which is unfortunately always too short.

Hundreds of people attended this meeting.

Maurizio Gasseau, the new Chair and myself were conducting this meeting and asked suggestions from all the people that were present. Maurizio presented the Psychodrama Section Working Committee, created recently and that had already one meeting in Rome to help the section to accomplish its future goals.

IN this meeting we also did a symbolic homage to our beloved Anne Ancelin Schutzenberger, honorary archivist of IAGP, that we were honoured to have present at this meeting. Greta Leutz was also there and Marcia Karp and we even had a special guest from groupanalytycal section, Malcolm Pines. We were also honnored to have the presence of the IAGP President, Jorge Burmeister.

During the meeting some Congresses and Conferences were announced such as the Psychodrama Ibero-American Conference in Cuba, 2011, the ASGPP Conference,Pensylvania,USA,April 2010, the International Sociodrama Conference in Patagonia, Argentina,September 2010, the IAGP Regional Congress in S. Paulo, Brazil, September 2010 and the FEPTO Meeting in Belgrade, Serbia, April 2010

The suggestions presented in these meetings by the participants were:

- To reactivate the Psychodrama Section Webpage

- To have a worldwide bibliography

- To have and expand Michael Wieser`s link for Psychodrama research:
<https://elearning.uni-klu.ac.at/moodle/mod/resource/view.php?id=32752&subdir=/FEPTO_www.fepto.org> https://elearning.uni-klu.ac.at/moodle/mod/resource/view.php?id=32752&subdir=/FEPTO_www.fepto.org

- To have and International Psychodrama Journal (also Zerka`Moreno`s suggestion)

- To have and International Psychodrama Discussion List

- To have an International Association of Psychodrama (that will not compete with IAGP goals)

- To have International Congresses for Psychodrama

Sue Daniel, present member of IAGP Board and member of Psychodrama Section Working Committee proposed a motion that was aprooved,

stating that the working committee should write some feedback about these suggestions in 4 months, which should be by the end December 2009.

It has been a rich and learning experience to serve you all!

Respectfully submitted

Manuela Maciel
