Fall Psychodrama Calendar - MA & NY
Dear Friends,
Autumn still seems so far away in the midst of this unusually hot July, but in fact it's right around the corner. Our fall calendar features the following trainings in Massachusetts and New York:
Childwork/Child Play: Action Methods with Children's Groups (Cambridge, MA - September 7-9)
Autumn Psychodrama Intensive (Highland, NY - October 11-15)
I Don't Wanna... You Can't Make Me! Psychodrama with Adolescents, Substance Abusers and Other Reluctant Clients (Highland, NY - November 29-December 1)
Scroll down for more details.
Our New York trainings are held at Boughton Place in Highland, NY, home of the original Moreno psychodrama stage. We are half way between Albany and Manhattan, and just a little over an hour drive from most of western Connecticut, northern New Jersey, northeastern Pennsylvania and eastern Massachusetts. We are easily reached by train (Metro North) or bus from New York City and by Amtrak from points north and south. Affordable overnight accommodations are available.
We look forward to seeing you at one of our trainings soon. Don't forget to "like" our Facebook page, where you can be the first to hear about new trainings and participate in discussion about psychodrama, sociodrama and Playback Theater.
Sincerely,
Rebecca Walters & Judy Swallow

Psychodrama, Sociodrama & Playback Theater
September 7-9, 2012 - Cambridge, MA
Psychodrama is a natural and powerful method for helping troubled, abused and traumatized children tell their stories, safely express strong feelings and try out new behaviors and roles. It is also useful to teach social skills and problem solving to students with diverse capabilities and challenges in a wide range of settings. This professional training will offer participants the opportunity to learn adaptations of the psychodramatic method that work especially well with groups of children ages 7 through 12. Many of these structures can be adapted to work with individuals and families.

Autumn Psychodrama Intensive
October 11-15, 2012 - Highland, NY
Trainer: Rebecca Walters, MS, LMHC, LCAT, TEP, and Judy Swallow, MA, LCAT, TEP
During this highly experiential workshop participants will learn and practice the psychodramatic method, its structure, skills and techniques through structured exercises, vignettes and full psychodramas. Group members will have the opportunity to learn the 'nuts and bolts' of directing psychodrama as they work on issues from their own lives in a safe and supportive environment. They will have the opportunity to try on the roles of protagonist, auxiliary, group member and director. Group sociometry will be explored in action and sociometric interventions explained. Advanced students may have the opportunity to direct.
Register by September 13 to receive an early registration discount.
I Don't Wanna... You Can't Make Me!
Psychodrama with Adolescents, Substance Abusers
& Other Reluctant Clients
November 29-December 1, 2012 - Highland, NY
Trainer: Rebecca Walters, MS, LMHC, LCAT, TEP
Psychodramatic interventions that 'go with the resistance', honor defenses and are attuned to sociometry create the safety that help change barriers into open doors. This encourages individual and group warm up to spontaneity, healing and change. This workshop is especially useful for those working with adolescents, the chemically dependent and 'acting out' clients. Together we will explore what is resistance? How does it get in the way? How does it serve us? How can we help our clients move beyond it?
